- Deuteronomy 32:1-4, 9-12, 49,
This is written for Rachel Adelstein. The text is taken from Deuteronomy 32.
I was reading Deuteronomy 32 and noticed that verse 49 had a good rhythm to it, so that became the chorus. The verses are made from other parts of the same chapter. This one has been sung a couple of times and I'm grateful for the useful feedback I've had on it.
Hear all the earth the words of my voice,
Give ear, and I will speak.
As the small rain fills the tender herb and showers feed the grass,
So my doctrine shall fall upon thee.
Ascribe ye greatness unto our God,
He's the Rock, his work is perfect.
As the Lord alone led Jacob in the howling wilderness,
So the eagle her nest upstirreth.
Get thee up to Abarim unto Mt. Nebo,
Which is in the land of Moab, that is over Jericho,
Behold the land of Canaan,
Which I give for a possession,
To the children of Israel.
